Video: How The Social Network should have ended

9 Feb

I’m assuming you’ve seen The Social Network.

If you haven’t, you should. It’s a powerful (and somewhat controversial) film about the rise of Facebook and its creator Mark Zuckerberg. Oh, and it happens to have eight Oscar nominations.

The Next Web posted this hilarious video How The Social Network should have ended. If you haven’t seen the film then you may not enjoy this video as much.

For those of you who have seen the film: enjoy!

Video: Social media is the new punk rock

I’m sure there are lots of parallels to be drawn with the emergence of the social media movement but I thought this one was particularly apt. And very well put together.

I found it on Jeff Esposito‘s website.

Will social networks be the new broadcasters?

10 Nov

One of my new favourite people is Gerd Leonhard – a futurist. What a cool job title.

He spoke at an event in France early in 2010 to give his predications about the future of television.

He hit on a very interesting point. Could social networks be the new wave of broadcaster? We already use sites such as Twitter and Facebook to broadcast ourselves to each other.

Perhaps it won’t be long before we see a new ‘TV’ show broadcast only on Facebook.

Share good shit

Earlier this week I delivered a social media presentation.

Everytime I prepare for a presentation I’m reminded of the core principles I share about using social media.

Providing added value to your friends, fans and followers is one of those principles.

The day after my presentation I came across this post by the brilliant Jason Falls on his Social Media Explorer website.

His eloquent title: Sharing Is The Cornerstone Of Social Media Success is refined into a great mantra for Twitter which is typed on a piece of paper tacked to his bulletin board.

Share good shit.

It’s perfect.

Which is why I’m writing this post. If we can all remember this when we’re having online conversations or posting links for our friends, fans and followers we make the internet an even richer place.

Thanks Jason for finding three little words that carry so much weight.
